Besstupenchaty variator (separate models)

The original design of the besstupenchaty variator established on Honda cars allows to change smoothly transfer number of transmission without rupture of a stream of power. Control of a variator is exercised the electronic block which provides high precision of regulation of transfer number and high fuel profitability of the car.

Provisions of the lever of the selector of ranges


On a control panel the indicators allowing to control easily position of the selector of ranges of a besstupenchaty variator and the included variator operating mode are located.


The indicator D lights up for some seconds at ignition inclusion (a key will turn in the lock in situation II). If the indicator D blinks during the movement of the car (irrespective of position of the lever of the selector of ranges), it indicates possible malfunction of transmission. In this case it is necessary to avoid sharp dispersals of the car and to address on HUNDRED Honda for check and repair of transmission.


Depending on modification of the car the lever of the selector of ranges can have five or six fixed provisions. At start of the engine the lever of the selector has to be only in situation P (Parking) or N (Neutral). If you stopped the car when one of ranges of D, S (which is available only on six-band modification of transmission) is included, L, N or R, it is necessary to release completely a pedal of an accelerator and to press a brake pedal for reliable braking of the car. At start-off of the car on rise it is necessary to turn on in addition along with working brake system the parking brake.


Certain switchings of the lever of the selector of ranges can be made only by simultaneous pressing the clamp button which is located sideways handles.

Provisions of the lever of the selector of ranges and switch of the modes

R (Parking)

In this position of the lever of the selector the output shaft of transmission is mechanically blocked. Always turn on the selector lever in situation P (Parking) at switching off or start of the engine. To bring the selector lever out of situation P (Parking), it is necessary to press a brake pedal, previously having released an accelerator pedal. Press the clamp button located sideways on the lever handle, and switch off the lever from situation P (Parking).

If on the car equipped with the selector lever unblocking device after all actions stated above it is still not possible to bring the lever out of situation P (Parking), it is necessary to release the selector lever, having used the ignition key, see. Automatic transmission.

To turn on the lever of the selector of ranges in situation P (Parking), it is necessary to press the clamp button also. In order to avoid breakage of transmission turn on the lever in situation P (Parking) only after a full stop of the car.

On the car equipped with the selector lever unblocking device. You can take out a key from the ignition lock, only if the lever of the selector is in situation P (Parking).

R (Backing)

Ways of switching of the lever of the selector of ranges between provisions R (Backing) and P (Parking) are described above. (Neutral) make turning on of the lever in situation R from situation N only after a full stop of the car, thus it is necessary to press the clamp button located sideways lever handles.

N (Neutral)

Use situation N (Neutral) at start of the decayed engine on the run of the car and at short stops of the car with the working engine. If you for any reason need to depart from the car, previously transfer the selector lever to situation P (Parking). Press a brake pedal at switching off of the lever of the selector of ranges from situation N (Neutral).

Cars with five-band transmission

D (Movement)

In this situation the lever of the selector has to be constantly at the movement of the car in usual road conditions. In the range of D transmission can work in one of three modes: normal, sports (dynamic) and economic.

Switching of the modes of functioning of transmission is made by means of the rotary handle which is located about the lever of the selector of ranges. The included mode is reflected by the corresponding indicator in a control panel.

Normal mode

It is intended for primary use in usual service conditions of the car. A control system of a besstupenchaty variator, regulating transfer number of transmission, ensures functioning of the engine in the optimum range of frequency of rotation of a cranked shaft. To inclusion of the normal mode there corresponds average position of the handle of the switch.

Sports, (dynamic) mode

Provides use of wider range of transfer numbers of a besstupenchaty variator for improvement of acceleration performance of the car. To include this mode, turn the switch handle in situation S. The sports (dynamic) operating mode of transmission can be switched on and off at any time.

Economy mode

Provides use of the top part of range of transfer numbers of a besstupenchaty variator for improvement of fuel profitability of the car. To include this mode, turn the switch handle in situation E. Economy mode of work of transmission can be switched on and off at any time.

Situation L (Lower subrange)

To transfer the selector lever from situation D (Movement) to situation L, press the clamp button located sideways lever handles. Range of L is recommended to be used for improvement of traction properties of the car when overcoming rises, and also for implementation of more intensive braking by the engine on descents. For sharp dispersal of the car during the work of transmission in the range of D or L press an accelerator pedal against the stop. Thus the besstupenchaty variator will pass into area of the lowest transfer numbers.

Cars with six-band transmission

Situation D (Movement)

In this situation the lever of the selector has to be constantly at the movement of the car in usual road conditions. A control system of a besstupenchaty variator, automatically regulating transfer number of transmission, supports operation of the engine in the optimum range of frequency of rotation of a cranked shaft. If the engine is not heated-up up to the normal working temperature, transmission will work at the lowered transfer numbers that provides faster warming up of the engine.

Situation S (The lowered range)

At turning on of the lever of the selector in situation S besstupenchaty automatic transmission works at the lowered transfer numbers in comparison with the range of D. It improves priyemistosttormozheniye the engine. Range of S is recommended to be used at the movement in the hilly district and in a dense transport stream with frequent delays and stops of the car.

Situation L (Lower subrange)

To transfer the selector lever to situation L, press the clamp button located sideways lever handles. Range of L is recommended to be used for improvement of traction properties of the car when overcoming rises, and also for implementation of intensive braking by the engine on abrupt descents.

For sharp dispersal of the car during the work of transmission in the range of D, S or L press an accelerator pedal against the stop. Thus the besstupenchaty variator will pass into area of the lowest transfer numbers.
