Check of serviceability of a state and replacement of the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid of the engine (eats)

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. The eats sensor represents a thermistor (the resistor which resistance changes with change of temperature). Change of resistance of the sensor has direct impact on amplitude of the signal which is given out by the sensor on ECM/PCM. Thus with REDUCTION of temperature resistance of the sensor INCREASES, and vice versa. In the presence in memory of ECM/PCM of the corresponding code of malfunction (see System of onboard diagnostics (OBD) - the principle of functioning and codes of malfunctions) it is necessary to check a condition of a chain eats and if electrical wiring as it should be, to replace the sensor.

2. Check of the sensor is made by measurement of its resistance (see an accompanying illustration) in a cold state (10 °C÷27 of °C). then start the engine and warm up it up to the normal working temperature. Resistance of the sensor has to fall.

3. Measure supply voltage on the plug of a red-black wire of the socket of an electrical wiring of the sensor at the included ignition (do not start the engine). The result of measurement has to make about 5.0 In, otherwise check a wire for break on a site from the sensor to ECM/PCM.

Replacement

Before starting procedure performance, wait for full cooling of the engine.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Before installation of the new sensor its carving part should be wound with a teflon sealing tape (tape FUM).
2. Wring out a lock uvula, then accurately turn out the sensor. For the purpose of minimization of losses of cooling liquid screw the new sensor as soon as possible.

Handle the eats sensor as it is possible more carefully as its damage is capable to have noticeable impact on functioning of a power supply system in general.

3. Installation is made upside-down. In summary check the level of cooling liquid, in case of need make the corresponding adjustment (see the Head Routine maintenance).
