Check of pressure of oil

Pressure drop of oil can be considered as a sign of that the engine needs recovery repair. The control lamp of pressure of oil is not the instrument of diagnostics of the lubrication system, and only informs the driver on dangerous decrease in oil pressure. Even the oil pressure measuring instrument which is built in the dashboard, despite a big detail of the issued information, it is possible to consider only as the device of information character. For data acquisition about the oil pressure which then can be compared to requirements of Specifications, it is necessary to use the mechanical (not electric) manometer in combination with an exact tachometer.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1a. Find the oil pressure sensor switch block (see accompanying illustrations). On the Civic models the sensor switch of pressure of oil is directly over an oil filter (in a picture the filter is removed).

1b. On the Integra models the sensor switch of pressure of oil is assembly from an oil filter.

2. Remove the sensor switch and establish instead of it a transitional nozzle for connection of the mechanical manometer. For sealing of a threaded connection of a nozzle use a teflon sealing tape, or tape FUM.
3. According to instructions of manufacturers connect an exact tachometer to the engine.
4. Check oil pressure at working at the turns stipulated in Specifications and the engine, heated-up up to the normal working temperature. Compare results of measurements to standard data. With excessively low pressure of oil it is necessary to estimate degree of wear of bearings and the oil pump.
