Check and adjustment of gaps of valves (each 24 000 km of run or time in 12 months)

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Need for adjustment of valvate gaps arises only after replacement or repair of components of the valvate mechanism.
2. The simplest way of check of valves is listening of the engine at an open cowl. Indicates the raised noise background published by the valvate mechanism the need of carrying out adjustment.

Adjustment

Check and adjustment of gaps of valves are made at the cold engine.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Uncover heads of cylinders (see the corresponding Part of the Head Dvigatel).
2. Having turned a cranked shaft, bring the piston of the first cylinder into the provision VMT of the end of a step of compression (see the Head Dvigatel). The shaft is turned in the direction of normal rotation (clockwise) until VMT tag on its pulley is not combined with the index on the lower cover of a gas-distributing belt, and UP tag on a cogwheel(s) of a camshaft(s) will not appear in situation for 12 hours.

3. Having brought the engine into this situation, it is possible to start check and adjustment of valves of the first cylinder (see an accompanying illustration).

4a. Begin with the inlet valve. Fill the demanded thickness an edge of the measuring probe (see Specifications) in a gap between an end face of a core of the valve and a yoke of the drive of the valve (Civic model), or a working ledge of the corresponding cam of an inlet camshaft and the lever of the drive of the valve (Integra model) (see accompanying illustrations).

4b. The probe has to slip in a gap with an insignificant resistance. In case of need weaken a lock-nut and weaken the adjusting screw, then start tightening the screw, achieving the demanded effect on a probe edge.

5. Having fixed the adjusting screw from a provorachivaniye a screw-driver, tighten a lock-nut (see an accompanying illustration). Make sure that the gap in the course of a tightening of a nut did not change, then, working in a similar manner, serially adjust gaps of the second inlet valve and two final.

6. Having turned a cranked shaft on 180 ° counterclockwise (the pulley of a camshaft has to be turned on 90 °), bring the piston of the third cylinder into the provision VMT of the end of a step of compression. Thus UP tag on a cogwheel(s) of a camshaft(s) has to turn into situation for 9 hours. Check and adjust valves of the third cylinder.
7. Turn a cranked shaft for 180 ° counterclockwise (the tag(s) of UP will fall down for 6 hours) and adjust valves of the fourth cylinder.
8. Having once again turned a cranked shaft on 180 ° (the tag(s) of UP has to turn into situation for 3 hours). Also repeat procedure for valves of the second cylinder.
9. Having finished adjustment of valves, establish into place a cover of a head of cylinders (see the corresponding Part of the Head Dvigatel).
