Replacement of a back epiploon of a cranked shaft

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

Before pribolchivat to the engine the holder with the new epiploon established in it, establish into place a cranked shaft and covers of radical bearings.


1. Measure the regular depth of landing of an old epiploon in the holder's nest, then lay the holder's plate edges on pair of wooden blocks of equal height and by means of a suitable drift and a hammer beat out an old epiploon from the nest (see an accompanying illustration). Try not to damage nest walls.

2. Carefully wipe the holder, then grease the outer edge of a new epiploon with pure motive oil. The epiploon has to be put in a nest strictly perpendicularly therefore it is not recommended to make a zabivaniye it in the holder a hammer. In the absence of access to a press the epiploon can be filled in a nest by means of a big vice with soft sponges – thus the holder with an epiploon have to be clamped between two flat wooden whetstones providing uniform distribution of loading on all area of a face surface of an epiploon. Use of a hammer is as a last resort allowed, however the zastukivaniye has to be made through flat wooden whetstone (see an accompanying illustration). Act slowly, watching that there was no distortion.

3. By means of the probe of lezviyny type measure a gap between an epiploon and the holder. The gap has to have equal size on all perimeter of the holder and not exceed the limit of the range of 0.51÷0.76 mm.

4. Apply a thin film of RTV sealant on all edge of the holder.
5. Before putting on assembly of the holder with an epiploon a pin of a cranked shaft, grease epiploon sponges with universal greasing. Do not forget to replace sealing laying of the holder.

Before installation both surfaces of laying should be greased with RTV sealant also.


6. Having put the holder closely to the block, by hand acquire bolts of its fastening, make sure of correctness of installation of the holder, then tighten bolts with the demanded effort (see Specifications to Parts Repair of the engine without extraction from the car - the Civic models and Repair of the engine without extraction from the car - the Integra model of the present Chapter). Cut edge of laying aflush with the interfaced case pallet surface (try not to scratch the last).
